Windows Keyboard Shortcuts You Want To Know
Keyboard is great tool for making many everyday tasks on a computer easier. Faster browsing, data modification and so much more. Once you learn a shortcut, you can't go on without it. I'll give you some shortcuts examples:
Most of these shortcuts work in browsers or any known software. I Suggest you start using them.
Open a view of all running programs/windows
ALT + TAB
Just hold down ALT and press TAB again to select the program you want to bring to the foreground, by adding SHIFT you can move backwards. ALT + ESC has the same function without the extra view.
Windows Key + TAB (Vista / Win 7 )
Open a lot nicer view of running programs, you can just browse trough it with pressing TAB again or simply by scrolling with your mouse.
Close the currently active window
ALT + F4
Get help
F1
Got lost ? Don't know what to do? Or just need help? Just press it. This applies for almost all programs and windows functions.
Minimize all windows
Windows Key + M
You'll see your desktop. ( Windows Key + D in Win 7 )
Bring back all the windows
Windows Key + SHIFT + M
Brings back all the windows you just minimized with Windows Key + M.
See the preview of your desktop
Windows Key + SPACEBAR
Release the buttons and you'll be able to resume your work.
Copy/Paste
Ctrl + C/V
Copies/pastes anything you've selected. Easier than right click and choosing copy/paste.
Undo/redo changes
CTRL + Z
Accidently deleted an importand text, just undo it.Remembered that the text wasn't really important, redo the changes.
Open a new/previously closed tab in a browser
CTRL + T / CTRL + SHIFT + T
If you managed to close the tab you still needed to work on, no problem, just reopen it fast.
New tab on a browser, new document
CTRL + N
Bookmark
CTRL + B
Search
CTRL + F
Opens search function. Very efficient when you have ball-loads of data and you need something from it.
Save
CTRL + S
Saves an opened document. ( F2 )
Move to the beginning/end
CTRL + Home/End
Moves your at the beginning/end of the document or a webpage.
Move faster
CTRL + arrows
If by arrows only you move by 1 symbol, then with CTRL you move by 1 word.
Zoom
CTRL + Mouse Wheel
Zooming function. Just hold down CTRL and use your mouse wheel.
Refresh
CTRL + R
Refresh function. Refresh a webpage, desktop, anything. ( F5 )
Permanent file delete
SHIFT + Delete
Deletes a file PERMANENTLY, so you won't have to recycle ( doesn't go to recycle bin, so be careful with this ).
For those who don't know where the listed keys are:
TAB is located just above your CAPS LOCK. It may have arrows pointing both ways on it.
Shift is a key with a little arrow pointing up, just below CAPS LOCK.
ALT is a key which has Alt written on it, the one to the left from SPACE BAR.
CTRL is the one in the down-left corner.
Windows Key is the key with a Windows logo on it usually left from ALT.
